I wouldn't take it so hard. That happens to me a lot. ;/ Still, the 'strange place' story is nothing new, in its broadest terms. My novel is about shape shifters, which is well-trodden ground, too.

You just have to believe in your unique vision, and damn the torpedoes! Besides, Haven may prove that there is an audience for such stories.
