✒I got good news about my bad ankle from the foot doctor yesterday: the exercise program is working. I won't have to have surgery or take gut-shredding medication. Huzzah.

✒My favoritest show in the whole wide world started its new season last night: Ghost Hunters. Dig those wacky plumbers! Which means I still didn't watch my tape of Wire in the Blood.

✒I've spent the day designing the most ridiculous airship ever. It's been loads of fun, but I'm not sure it would ever get off the ground--or stay in the air. Cartoony, but fun. Frank Reade meets Loony Tunes. If form follows function, this probably doesn't function at all. Must make prettier, sleeker.

✒I spent another $50 at Amazon, justifying it with the "I need it to write my novel" excuse. Okay, maybe I needed one of those books. The others were just because. I will never be out of debt.

✒Being a writer is one of the wackiest things on earth. It means you have to get intimately acquainted with all sorts of strange subject matter: airships/hot air balloons, flintlocks, air currents, string theory, boundary branes, men's underwear...

I love Ghost Hunters. I was probably a little too excited than I should be that it was premiering last night. Jay and Grant are totally the best parts of the show. (And it's way better than Most Haunted, which we all know is really just staged but still. People running around screaming is kinda dumb.)

I also watch it for the laugh factor and to watch Derek make an ass of himself. Everywhere he goes, there are people involved in Satanic ritual. Wow, who knew? Did you read about the sting Ciaran perpetrated against him this season? Totally busted his chops.

I love Jay and Grant, and Steve is wonderfully straight-freaky, and Brian is such a mess. The soap opera sometimes is too much, but overall, I just love that show.

Way better. I watch it, but mostly (like Kim) to laugh at the ridiculousness of those involved. And Derek is such a phony. Did you read about the sting Ciaran ran on him this season? Totally hilarious?

Oh, Steve is so funny. He's scared of like everything in the world except for ghosts. It cracks me up without fail.

And, yeah, Brian remains a complete and utter mess.

Ciaran was convinced Derek was getting research passed to him by somebody on the crew so he wrote up a set of fake notes for three different locations and, sure enough, Derek walked right into them each and every time. I read about the sting first and just about fell out of my chair laughing when I saw Derek go into his schtick. Bodmin Gaol, Craigever (?) Castle, and one other I can't remember. Hi-LAR-ious.

And yes, Steve and his phobias are a hoot.

P.S. Do you watch Dead Famous on the Biography channel? They recently did the Bird Cage and Bisbee. It was interesting to see how differently the two shows handled it. Dead Famous seems like a cross between Ghost Hunters and Most Haunted.

Let me know when you've finished watching "The Torment of Others," and when you've finished reading The Mermaids Singing. I've got two of McDermid's book out on loan from the library, but they didn't have the next two or three books in the series following Mermaids, so I'm going to run over to the bookstore tomorrow and see if I can find them there. I want to read the series in order.

I will. It's on the agenda to watch it tonight and I could conceivably finish the book by this weekend. I also like reading them in order so hope the next one's at B&N when I stop by tomorrow evening for my weekly book run. I already decided to buy it.
