Conversations with Min

Min (sitting in the high window): I want that crow out there! Pleeeease give me that crow!

Me: No.

Min: Pleeeeese??

Me: Baby love, that crow is almost as big as you are.

Min: But I want it! It would be such fun!

Me: If you were out there face to face with that crow, it would scare you to death.

Min: No, it wouldn't. I'm largely over my tendency to get skittish. (A loud bang outside. Min dashes under the bed.)

Me: You see? You'd be scared to death of that crow.

Min (from under the bed): Okay, how about the squirrel?

Me: No.

Min: One of those little bitty birds? Pleeease?

Me: Sorry.

Min: You are so mean to me.

Gee whiz, you could at least get her a hamster.*

*Maeve made me say that!

Because the washer is big, and Min's arms are short. Min can't play with Mousie if Mousie won't come out and play with her.

At least Min only has designs on the crows. Gilly? She stalks the 30 pound Canada Geese on the grass outside, running from window to window in full hunting chatter.

And even though Gilly only weighs a tad over 8 pounds, I'm not sure I'd bet on the geese. *g*

My cat talks to crows. Only crows. Not pigeons, robins, squirrels, nothing else. Crows. She gets in the window and makes this quiet, throaty "nyaaaaack aaaack" noise at them. I don't know if she's threatening them or coaxing them or expressing admiration. It's very weird.

Min: You are so mean to me.

I agree. You should get Min her very own hamster to love. ;-)

I'm sure she'd greatly appreciate it. :-)
