The Neo has landed!
Jan. 10th, 2007 11:08 amYippy skippy! My little toy arrived last night, the Alphasmart Neo—either a huge, honking PDA or a wee bit of a computing device. It's so cute and lightweight. The keyboard is about the size of a small laptop, I think, and the LCD display is quite clear and readable. It even has a primitive spellcheck and autosave so if the batteries go or you accidentally turn it off, the file doesn't go away. Definitely plain Jane, but definitely all I need to write on lunch and not have to do it longhand, and a fraction of the cost of a laptop. Which is a good thing for a person trying to get out of debt.
("What the hell is it?" as my boss says.
"An anti-debt machine," I answers.)
(Thanks, Vern!)
We'll see if my word count actually improves. Sometimes it ain't the longhand, it's the brain that's the problem.

I leave you with this irrelevant paraphrase of a very old joke:
A: May I be brutally frank?
B: If you wear black leather. But my name's not Frank.
