That was a hell of a race. I was painting my office, saw the start and figured she was doomed, so I went back to painting. By the end, I was crouched in front of the little TV and more tense than I was at the end of this year's Phillies/Giants series. I realized if she'd won, I would have been jumping up and down about a horse race, the only one I bothered to watch all year.

It was a hell of a race. She gained on him with every stride and the race was just one or two strides too short for her to catch him. She had all the go and he had none left. She's got nothing to be ashamed of, except that we're all hugely disappointed on her behalf.
