What's on your bedside table?

arcaedia did this over at her blog, so I decided to import it over here (steal the idea) because I thought it was a cool thing.

Here's what's on mine:

The Halo Effect by MJ Rose—because it's the novel I'm currently reading. (Frustrating book. It's supposed to be a thriller, but the narrator keeps talking and talking about herself.)

Three anthologies—because I tend to take a break from novels at night with short stories:

❶ My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding—big fan of Charlaine Harris, Rachel Caine and Jim Butcher, but have enjoyed the others quite a lot, especially the Esther M. Friesner story, which was hilarious.

❷ In the Forest of Forgetting by Theodora Goss

❸ Moonlight and Vines by Charles de Lint

And a book of poetry—because if not short stories, then poetry (or vice versa):

The Trouble with Poetry by Billy Collins (a long time favorite of mine)

I don't have a table. I sleep on a mattress set on the floor. All my books are on the floor around the matress. And you kn ow what they are because you sent them to me. I have read one of the Viehl's today. It had french vampires in it.

The tactics and battle one sounds like something I'd have to read early in the evening, so that would be more like something by the reading chair. ;-) The Klasky books sound intriguing.
