Congratulations on getting the drive back. It's such a satisfying feeling to be able to write after a drought. Personally, I've tried to stop worrying about being derivative, since so many of my pressing needs to write come when I consume something and think, "That's not how I would've written it." But maybe it's different when you're looking to be published.
