I was talking to a friend today about how he is trying to unlearn a response to anything and everything with anger, which his mother taught him. The only acceptable emotion, for her, was anger. He wants a better life.

Yes, that can be a tough one to overcome. A lot of anger in my upbringing also. And although sometimes anger can be a positive motivator, mostly it's not. Therapy helped quite a bit in learning a new way to relate to the world but there was also grace involved. I don't know what else to call up besides that.
