I once was in a train (the Boston T, but it was above ground) in the evening. Few lights on.

The reflection was so perfectly balanced that you could not tell whether a shadowy form was someone on the platform, or someone inside but reflected, until you looked inside.

Yes, trains at night can be a very haunting mode of transportation. I once took a longish trip from near San Diego to LA at night. Like floating through reflective blackness.
