Lower end of the 40's? That's still a hell of a lot of reading.
There's a lot of junk on my list. I make a list of nonfiction, too, but mostly I don't finish nf books. I read what I need for my nefarious purposes and move on. Sometimes it takes me years to finish an nf book.
And shifting tectonic plates in one's mind always make for interesting times, don't they?
