Oh, it's just a letter from the slushpile reader from Fantasy and Science Fiction, but FSF always does a personal letter (not form) and they have a sort of...embedded code the writers have come to recognize over the years. "Didn't grab" is taken to me that the reader couldn't get into the story, "didn't hold" is taken to mean they lost interest in the story, and "doesn't work" is taken to mean that they read the whole thing, but the story just didn't, well, work. And if you get past John Joseph Adams, the reader, and Gordon (the publisher) sends you a rejection letter, it means JJA thought it good enough to send up the chain of command.
