Random quote of the day:

“It seems to me that in many cases, psychics and mediums prosper not because they’re intentionally fraudulent, but because their subjects are uncritical.  The people who visit mediums and psychics are often strongly motivated or constitutionally inclined to believe that what is being said is relevant and meaningful with regard to them or a loved one.”

If it is tarot cards that are being used (like in the picture) then I think that any card can have relevance to a person's life because the cards are universal archetypes.

I try to believe in several impossible things every morning, to paraphrase Lewis Carroll. Skeptics have to believe what they believe, true believers have to believe what they believe, and those of us who are forteans try to waffle somewhere in the middle. :-)

*Nods* I am fully in the believers-of-supernatural-phenomena camp.

An ironic thing about skeptics and atheists is that they are as keen at proselytizing converts as much as true believers are.

I tend more towards acceptance than skepticism, but I like having both sides available to me, helping me decide on the nature of the world. They compliment each other if you can live with the uncertainty.

Don't I know it! They can't see that in themselves, though. Like all true believers, they think that anyone who doesn't think like them is deluded and must be indoctrinated. It's called scientism, the absolute faith that science has the answer to everything and anything that doesn't conform to that worldview MUST BE SUPPRESSED. They get that same demon glint in their eyes as any born again preacherman.
