lol....I say go for the Shapeshifter! Or if it happens to be Unshapely Things...the fairies...(although it sounds like you have a Dresden Files novel on your list too....)
Nightlife is soooo damn good! (definitely one of the ones on the top of my list for the year! Unshapely Things is too. and Wicked Lovely.) I hope you've already bought Moonshine? because if not, you're gonna want to jump right into it as soon as you're done. lol.
I have such a literary crush on Caliban! ::grins::
let me know what you think of Abby when you get to it!
I don't enjoy the cross-pollenization as much, either, for some reason. Although I'm currently reading Nightlife and enjoying it so far. Except for his unfortunate preference for dangling participles. Dude, it's like every third sentence. Writing as if there were no tomorrow, he finished the paragraph. But at least he *can* write.
As I have been reading slush -- I remarked to my husband last nght that I would really like to read more sexy ghost stories and/or poltergesit tales.
I have gotten ALOT of vampire stories & werewolf stories. Most of them are very similar. What I had been hoping to come across was a good, chilling ghost story. I got two so far. Out of hundreds. Now ask me how many vampire / werewolf stories I got?
lol--I know the market is choked with bloodsuckers and wolfies. That's why I'm not writing anymore vampire stuff. I have had a ghost story cooking on the backburner for awhile, but I wanted to finish my novel (steampunkish fantasy) before branching out. I may have to pull that ghost story out of storage now.
Ghost horses! Ghost cowboys?? Ghosts in the White House, wreaking havoc with oblivious politicians. Ghosts voting randomly on Capitol Hill...ghosts hijacking the country. ;P
These are the books I've finished since my last posting:
19. Territory by Emma Bull 20. The Machine's Child by Kage Baker 21. Devil's Bargain by Rachel Caine 22. Devil's Due by Rachel Caine
I really like Territory, but it's the first of two parts, so now I have to wait until the next one's published to see how I feel about the story.
I'm a longtime fan of Kage Baker's Company novels and this is the second to last.
I'm also a big fan of Rachel Caine, so I found used copies online of two books she'd done for Silhouette Bombshell: sort of spy-mystery-paranormal-romance-thrillers. They're really one book, so I was glad I had both books before I began reading the first. Book one stops and two picks up right where it ends. Not bad, but not as good as the Weather Warden series.
I liked the ones by Rachel for Silhouette too...(I got them when they first came out and was very annoyed to have to wait!! (Rachel is one of my all-time favorite writers because of the Weather Wardens series) I'm right in the middle of Territory, and I'm loving it! (You and I just have opposite book choosing schedules because I just finished Nightlife and Moonshine last week...lol)
Kage Baker...going to have to try a book or few there...thanks for the rec! (I'll have finished an entire stack of new books when Territory is done tonight or tomorrow and I'll be in need of another)
The first book in Kage Baker's Company series is In the Garden of Iden (yes, it's spelled that way), and I adored it. Besides the Company series, she's written one fantasy novel, The Anvil of the World. Which I also adored. She's one of *my* all-time favorites.
That is pretty amusing we're reading the same books--but I picked up Nightlife on your reccy.
