I have days where I feel like that. Today is one of those days. But I can't sustain the hopeless any more than I can sustain the hope. That's a personal thing, though. I don't know about the generational thing. And really? The older I get the more I realize how much I don't know about anything.

Oh! I didn't feel the hopelessness of the quote at all. I felt the exhaustion of it.
Hopeless is Evil winning, or Good winning too late. This is something different, the knowledge that the only reward for a job well done is a harder job.

Well, when I pulled this out of the quote file on Friday to illustrate it, my attitude towards the quote was different, probably closer to yours. Today, watching one of my favorite memories burn, I probably fell too far into the blues.
