Writing for yourself is one thing. You write what you write, you get it out of you, or whatever. Other people always mess things up. :-) And that show don't tell thing? Such a bitch.

I switched character POV, and I've discovered that my Emotionally Detached Woman basically narrates her own life in a sardonic tone, and she tells so many things, and I can't be true to her character and only show. Sigh. Writing advice is for chumps, I say.

Speaking of writing, I've been meaning to tell you for a while now that I use your "A little trick for LIE and LAY" that you posted back in 2012 all the time. Lie/lay is a major bugaboo for me so it's been extremely helpful. I used it again just now, which is what made me think of it.

LOL. I am glad that it has helped AND that I am not the only one going around saying it in my head.

Another that I am always correcting in my mind is when people "over-correct" themselves and use the subject pronoun instead of the object, or the inverse. :P. I like to listen to podcasts or videos when working in the garden, and I am sad to say that I do a lot of mental grammar lessons. :-/

Ha! My biggest grammar bugaboo is when people tell me they "feel badly." I want to say, "Oh? You're inept at feeling?"

But that's okay. I have many of my own sins.

ROFL. I am trying to think of a time when I have heard someone say that. I think I grew up hearing "I feel poorly," which, yep, amounts to the same ineptness. :P
