Love the image! Hemingway, like Kipling, I've enjoyed from time to time in metered doses, lol! I myself feel very, very broken - now am wondering if anyone is going to hand me the golden "glue" to put myself attractively back together? Or shall I just content myself with being broken potsherds beneath a pot of violets?

Thanks. I love that image, too. It's a Japanese technique called kintsugi which I hadn't heard of until just recently: they patch together broken pottery with liquid gold. There's a metaphor if I ever heard one: if we can manage to patch ourselves up, the lessons are golden.

Sadly, it's very difficult to get that patching. I have days when I think I'm beyond mending, and I'm not even facing the life challenges you are. Pot sherds beneath the violets? That *might* work. :)

And I agree about Hemingway and Kipling. They can be okay in limited doses.

Yes, I know about Kintsugi. I had a beloved cup I wish I could have applied this technique of repair to - alas, too late.
