In the days before the space age, people believed they had been taken by fairies. So there is definitely *something* going on, and I don't believe it's all in the head. I just don't necessarily believe it's beings from another planet.

Yes, I'd have to agree. It's not all lies, hoaxes, delusions. There's some mechanism here, but what it is...who knows? Did you ever read Passport to Magonia?

It's one of the first books (that I'm aware of) which dealt with the parallels between Faery and ufology. It's a slim little volume by Jacques Vallee and I think he makes a rather compelling case.

I Want to Believe

I voted "true" but with a caveat because your poll does not allow for caveats for those of us that believe. Ahem... lol...

I think that we can discount better than 95% of the reports of abductions that come in as people with no lives who are seeking attention, crackpots, screwballs, freaks, publicity whores, mentally unstable or mentally deluded.

But...

I do believe that we've been visited. I do believe that there are some... a very few mind you... genuine cases of abduction out there. And I don't think the reasons for medical experimentation is all that mysterious. What do we do when we run across a new species of animal? Explore it. Learn about it. I think that's what is happening in those rare cases of actual abduction. Same with the livestock mutilations. It's curiosity, I believe.

Well, the Other buttons allows for caveats. ;-)

I'm not sure what I believe. Having had sleep paralysis syndrome for a while when I was younger, it's left me with rather large caveats myself. But I don't think it's all attention grabbing, lies, and hoaxes. There's certainly a lot of that out there, but there are also some reports from very sincere people.

There are obviously lots and lots of questions, but like you, I can't believe it's all lies. I know some would call us crackpots for even entertaining the notion, but I think there's something to it.
