Things no one but Pam cares about #6,845: This has been widely quoted as "yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars," but the original says "love the darkness." There is a world of difference between enduring and loving.

And agree that, yes, there is a world of difference between enduring and loving and it is hard to see how someone could mix them up. Perhaps the thought of loving the dark seems a bit too pagan and downright devilishly wrong to a lot of people?

I was thinking something of the sort. Someone didn't like the paganish associations. It would have been one thing if this quote had been translated from a different language--those kinds of interpretations happen all the time there--but the original was written in English, so someone at some point either misremembered or decided to change it.

The original version gives me prickles, literally. The 'endure' version brings images of puritanical self-sacrifice. Not the same thing at all.
