It may be! But I would have to have answered No to either of those in any case. I don't like either sport. Sorry. :-)

Where did you swim in the Mediteranean? How was the experience?

As my little asterisk said, I only waded, and only briefly, in Nice. It was off season, early October, and cold--not ideal weather for "bathing" (which may be why the beach was fairly deserted). The beach there is pebbles, not sand, so it was certainly different from what I was used to here in California. But at least I can say I dipped my toes in the Mediterranean, which was the entire point of taking my shoes off at the time. :-)

We visited the Cousteau museum in (I believe) Monte Carlo which had some fabulous vistas of the sea. It's *so* blue! Much bluer than the Atlantic or Pacific. At least it was umpty umpt million years ago when I was there.

Sounds like heaven. We are in the dead of winter here in the North East and I'd love to be able to go *anywhere* right now. But there is promise in my horizon. My family is driving up to Quebec City in April. Not exactly Nice, but close enough for the Francophile inside of me.

Someplace I've always wanted to visit but never gotten to. I've never even made it to Victoria and Vancouver, which are much closer parts of Canada. For shame!

I've heard great things about Vancouver. This will be my second trip to Quebec City, which is the only walled city in North America (as well as being a UNESCO heritage site). It truly is a French city, just on our side of the Atlantic.

Yes--the crazy thing is that I've always wanted to go to Vancouver, too, but never got there. The closest I got was Seattle. Puget Sound is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen--so green it hurts your heart.
