On the mend

Parts of me are feeling much better today, other parts much worse, but all-in-all I'm on the mend. And I have a lovely shiner! It should be interesting to see who avoids meeting my eye at work tomorrow (as I intend to go back). I remember that from my accident five years ago, how uncomfortable it made people to see a woman with black eyes, how some people scrupulously avoided asking what happened.

There's some kind of societal testament in that, isn't there? And not necessarily a good one.

Onward.

Man, there's all kinds of societal testamentary going on there.

I'm glad some of your parts are better. :)

How is your arm? I hope it hasn't stiffened up, or won't stiffen up by tomorrow.

As for people, I contemplated attaching a big sticky notice to my back say, 'No, I haven't been fighting,' but then I thought that they wouldn't believe me anyway. Aside for the people that saw me fall, there wasn't one question from anyone else as to how I came to be like that. It is ... uncomfortable.

I am absolutely intrigued by the prospect of you going back to work now... You need to take copious notes!

Glad to hear you are mending. I wish you a swift total recovery, and a brave face for all the scrupulously blind folks you may meet.

dude, I'm totally with you on this one. Mine actually makes me feel guilty for going out. I constantly want to explain myself. Do you feel like that too?

Maggie bruises remarkably easily and often, so I've often worried people will jump to the wrong conclusion about me and her. (Fortunately, she doesn't usually acquire bruises in places that would be characteristic of abuse.)

But yeah, there might be some kind of Kitty Genovese thing going on there.
