I personally have to agree. The only reason I write (which is horrible by the way but it is just a hobby) is because I can not find a good book sometimes. Yes, there are plenty of good books but some make you want to say that you could write better than this. And to be honest I also write so I do not have the free time to do anything foolish. My family gets a daily dose of fresh pages and I do not get in trouble with the authoritys so everyone is happy except for my aunt who pays for the ink.
