Not that there is a light side to the Iranian crisis, but this article from the New York Times does give another angle to the attempts of governments to censor the Internet, and by extension, Iran. The subtitle could be, "How Cute Cats and Soccer Laid the Groundwork for Revolution." Freedom of speech isn't as easy to quash as it once was. The next time I get outraged over blogger abuse of Whatever, I'll try to remind myself of that.

I do have to say that one thing this past week has forever changed is my opinion of Twitter. I considered it the final nail in the coffin of human communication before, just a total waste of time and space and energy. But now... definitely not anymore. It's amazing to see how essential frivolties can become.
