In my experience…
Jul. 10th, 2009 08:39 amRandom quote of the day:
"Of the three ways in which men think that they acquire knowledge of things—authority, reasoning, and experience—only the last is effective and able to bring peace to the intellect."
—attributed to Roger Bacon
I like this quote, so I'm posting it, but I can't verify it's attribution. Apparently, it was picked up from this Wikipedia article on the history of alchemy and widely disseminated across the web and elsewhere. It does seem to somewhat contradict (or expand upon) this essay which Roger Bacon definitely wrote. I'll leave it to you to decide whether it's valid or not.
And, of course, I gave it a counterculture illustration so none of us should take it too seriously.

Disclaimer: The views expressed in this random quote of the day do not necessarily reflect the views of the poster, her immediate family, Siegfried and Roy, Leonard Maltin, or the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. They do, however, sometimes reflect the views of the Cottingley Fairies.
