Zippers because without them pants are much more annoying. Though I suppose I'd be happy in drawstring sweats. Also, jackets and purses that close by zipper are much superior to all other options.

Heavy-duty trash bags--oh goodness, yes! Nothing is more annoying than having only flimsy bags to haul the cat's litter out with.

Yeah, we always think of the big ticket items like computers changing the world (which they did, of course), but so did a lot of "little" stuff. Life before zippers, et al., was a pain.
