Wait, I can't write this fast

I'm closing in on the end of chapter 4 of Charged with Folly (originally typed, Charged with Fikky, which really doesn't apply until later chapters). I only started it a week ago and it usually takes me a couple of weeks to write a chapter. I haven't written this fast in a long ol' time. Not NaNoWriMo speed, but a quickened pace. New novel/new world excitement, I guess. Or maybe the idea is just inherently easier to write. Emotionally, anyway. Some of the technical things gave me fits, but at least there isn't as much angst in this one as in the last two. There is angst—it wouldn't be me writing if there wasn't—but it just isn't the same sort, and dwelling on it is not really so integral to the plot. (And a grateful sigh was heaved by all.)

Whatever—I'm beginning to have fun with this, and that alone may account for working faster than I usually do. Or maybe because I'm having fun it just seems quicker. Whatever. I likes it.

In Halloween news: Got a boatload of trick or treaters last night, ran out of candy and had to shut off the light. Fortunately, no tricks ensued. Last year, not a kid. There is no more ridiculous feeling than buying a bunch of candy and having no one come to the door. Well, okay, there are plenty more things that feel more ridiculous, but...

In other news: Last night I got the first good night's sleep I've had in a week. I slept so hard that my cat (adorable poobie woobie) had to walk over my head several times and perch on the nightstand to mreowl before I'd acknowledge her presence. She thinks this whole return to Standard Time is a dastardly conspiracy designed to deprive her of food for one hour longer.

I imagine it would be like how speed chess (using a timing clock) differs from regular chess. Lots of going-with-your-first-impulse. I bet I'd find out different things about myself by that kind of speed writing.
