It's morning in America

pjthompsonIt feels so good to hope again. It won't last, it never does, but for this moment in time I'd like to savor it.
Last night it was clear pretty early here on the West Coast how things were going. The only senate races left undetermined were ones that probably wouldn't be determined for days, so I went to bed about 11:15. Just as I was settling down, the sound drifted in my bedroom window of someone walking down the street whistling a meandering (slightly drunk?) rendition of "Happy Days Are Here Again."
It was a sublime moment.
And this morning on NPR, one of the Democratic winners led his supporters in a rendition of that old Democratic theme song. It is morning in America.
For a minute or two.
