Failure is an option
Aug. 9th, 2006 09:34 amOnly cut 500 words yesterday, but those were some tight chapters so I felt good about getting rid of even that much. It's nice, too, to reexamine everything with a hard eye. Feels . . . clean.
A significant moment in history of the day: I typed "failure" into Google and the number one position was occupied by the official bio of George W. Bush, President of the United States of America.
And speaking of failures, if "Joementum" Lieberman runs as an Independent as he's threatening, I think we'll wind up with a Republican senator for Connecticut because he'll split the vote too much. Joe's ego is certainly larger than his concern for the electorate.
Quote of the day:
"When I face the desolate impossibility of writing 500 pages, a sick sense of failure falls on me, and I know I can never do it. Then gradually, I write one page and then another. One day's work is all I can permit myself to contemplate."

Date: 2006-08-10 01:53 am (UTC)I don't think this is a lock. From everything I've read, that fellow is a very weak candidate who was basically thrown out as a sacrificial lamb before Lamont came along. On Hardball this evening, the RNC chairman wouldn't even tell voters to vote for the Repub, he just said, "The voters in Conn. will decide."
I think they know they don't have a great chance for a true (R) there, so they're sort of throwing support behind Lieb. But the thing is, his Democratic Money Well just dried up, so things will be getting rough for him. As long as the party people stay within the party, I think he'll fade away. I can't imagine any way he makes running away because his party democratically said No look good.

Date: 2006-08-11 05:39 am (UTC)And I wouldn't count out Lamont just yet. He's got strong, strong support. Joementum losing that primary was a major upset. It was huge. And I think that his act since the loss is beginning to turn a lot of people off. The Democrats in CT, I think, will see his complete disregard not just for the Demcratic party, but for the democratic process as well and vote Dem, not indy. Either that or they'll stay home. I don't think that Joementum is such a huge draw that he'll split the vote. Couple that with the Republican asshat running against them and I think Lamont is going to win it.
