Question: What is it about your writing that you think makes it special, stand out from the crowd? ... And if you are too shy to analyze yourself, then I encourage folk to toss this question out to the people who have read them...
Um, not entirely sure. But I think what makes my writing special is the careful emotional layering of characterization. I think I do a pretty decent job of creating real emotional worlds inside of people. I do a decent enough job of worldbuilding, but I think that springs as much or more out of who the people are who inhabit the world. I think my prose can be sort of lush—but that works against me as often as it works for me. There's avery damn fine line between rich, living prose and being ankle deep in fresh fertilizer.
And happy one-hundred-and-sixth birthday, Dad.
