Why Inanna and not Ereshkigal?

I don't know, because I'm a big fan of Lilith, and of the whole Persephone cycle. I guess it's because I spent a lot of time with Inanna and her mutations and all the dying gods when I was researching for Shivery Bones. I was very taken with Enheduanna's hymns and I was very taken with that Diane Wolkstein/Samuel Kramer book, Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth. But Inanna wouldn't have a gig without Ereshkigal. Sabina was originally going to be a Lilith-based character. Maybe if she ever evolves, she can become Lilith or Ereshkigal's asher. :-)

I can really recommend, btw, Demetra George's Mysteries of the Dark Moon. It's an amazing journey through all that juicy stuff.

Always been fascinated by the Eleusinian mysteries and the whole Kore-Persphone-Demeter cycle that was probably celebrated there. No one knows, of course, but it appears to have been a cult of death and rebirth in which all, from slaves to kings, were equal. I've always liked the transformative aspect of going deep down into the earth and then emerging again into the sunlight. Apparently something of the sort may have been reenacted at the temple there. But of course everyone was sworn to secrecy on pain of death, so...no one knows for sure.

Okay.... so tell me about your fascination with the 18th Century. And what about "orbs?"

I've always found the 18th century inherently interesting because it's a tipping point between the Renaissance and the modern world and I think a lot of what Western Society became really started to pick up steam in the 18th c. I also started writing a series of stories set in the 18th century and was doing a lot of research--and the more I researched, the more fascinated I became.

Plus there was my whole past life as a gin-soaked hoor in the 18th century. ;-)

As to orbs...I think most "orb" photography that people claim to be ghosts or spirits can be explained away as dust particles and insects. I find most of it completely not credible. But there was that one time in my old apartment...

Nice orbs, baby. LOL... At first I thought it looked like reflections cast by the light sitting in front of the TV. Not sure what they are. What do YOU think they are? I honestly don't know what to think of orbs. I don't know that I believe that they really indicate spiritual activity.

I don't really think they're spirits, either. The weird thing about that picture was that I took one almost identical a few seconds later and nothing was there. I flapped a cloth in the air later to see if I could duplicate it with dust, nothing. But I still think there's probably a logical explanation: camera flares, dust, bugs, etc. I distrust, on principle, all "spirit" photography when it just shows up on the picture. However, when someone witnesses something with their own eyes and it has some dimensionality to it, a roundness and maneuverability, I think we're talking a whole other phenomena or phenomenon. But what that is...I just can't say.

It's odd about your picture... I dunno what to make of it though.

And I agree about distrusting photographs or things that aren't seen with one's own eyes. As fun as "Most Haunted" is, I can't 100% buy into it. You're right about things seen with somebody's own eyes is a whole different ballgame.
