Kage Baker's illness

I'm so devastated by the news that the fine writer, Kage Baker, is gravely ill. I don't know her personally, never got the chance to meet her, alas. But she's one of my all time favorite writers, close in my heart to Peter S. Beagle. I've always felt a kinship with her writing and her characters. She's not even 60. Her splendid life and the splendid worlds and characters she creates should go on forever.

This news has affected us as well. Though we don't know Kage personally, her books have become a fixture in our house over the past year. I'm so sorry to hear she's not going to pull through. A true loss.

It is. Her characters are like old friends of mine. I wish I'd met her.
