Yep, but you can't browse websites, read your newspapers and books, make phone calls, send emails, type notes, work on projects on one of those big remotes...
I think they're very cool looking. I'd have to look at it though since I have a feeling I wouldn't like it for reading. I'm too spoiled by e-ink tech, I think. But other stuff, it seems cool! And the price point is killer.
e-ink is what they use on the Sony reader? I looked and held a Nook the other day and I must say I was rather taken by it. Heavier than I thought it would be, though.
I think it looks like a good multifunction product but not for the dedicated ebook market. If it has the screen I think it has, you might as well just keep reading off your laptop.
That said, I also think if Apple wants to crack the ebook market, the way to kill the Kindle is not through tech but through price. Because as of right now, people can just downloaded Kindle for PC onto the iPad and then download Kindle books through that to read.
I was actually hoping to replace my Neo since it's getting a little wonky and thought this might be ooo! bright! shiny! and kill several stones with one bird. I think I'll wait a bit...
*sigh* I've been wanting a little doodad to replace my Neo more than a Kindle-like device, but I thought this might be an extra cool alternative. Since I can't afford to run right out and buy one right this minute, that's probably a good thing. I'll let this desire simmer a while longer.
I'm going to have to go to the local Apple store and actually interact with one. I would probably use it most writing and research...but use does tend to follow availability of tech, so...
