Silly me of the day: Here's one of the hazards of concentrated book buying orgies: buying the same book twice.

Ahem. Embarrassing, too.

In my defense, one of the books I bought twice had been reissued under another title. Since I got the original book used for a couple of bucks, that isn't so bad. I'll give the old copy to a friend of mine who's very interested in the subject matter.

The Anne Perry paperback I bought twice--that's all my bad, I'm afraid. Fortunately (?), Amazon sent me the wrong book in a nonfiction series I've been slowing accumulating so I can send the paperback with the free shipping coupon they've sent to return the wrongie. Ironically, the last time I bought a book from this series, they sent me the exact same wrong number in the series. And both times were the only time I have ever, in years and years of buying from them, had anything go wrong with a shipment.

Synchronicity of the day: Temperatures in the 80s all day yesterday, and due to continue until the first of next week. Consequently, it was a not just a puppy dog morning on the drive to work but a puppy dog evening on the drive home. Perhaps that's not such a synchronicity; more like I was in the mood to notice them after the morning drive.

First, there was a dun-colored Labrador mix walking through the intersection of Main, very businesslike and leading his businesslike mom. On Pacific, it was a very pudgy brown and white English bulldog--overjoyed, it seemed, and practically skipping along the street with his two dads. Finally, at Glencoe and Alla Road, a hippity hoppity husky hopped onto someone's lawn to take a dump. His tall, too-thin mother didn't seem remotely concerned with stopping him, and I saw no evidence of a pooper scooper. She did look around furtively, however, to see if anyone noticed. I guess people in cars didn't count.

I'm living with a cat again. She's a bit of a demon cat, although she looks fairly sweet here. Her name is Underfoot, or Undie, but she finds that disgustingly common. She prefers to be known as Princess Underfoot de Pusspotte (that's pronounced puss, not pus).

What exactly brought the Princess to your humble abode?
