What's in a name?

I've known for some time I was going to have to change the name of Night Warrior because there's an online comic and an anime series, amongst others, by that name. But I've had a great deal of trouble coming up on some variation of warrior that wasn't already taken by games or anime. I'm not wildly crazy about any of the variants I did come up with. And, yes, the friend and I who were brainstorming on this got a bit silly at the end. But what do you think? Comments welcome.

Have you considered possessives? Like "Warrior's Night" or something of the sort?

Actually, I did think of doing a riff on Emma Bull's novel, War for the Oaks. If I could avoid the whole warrior thing altogether, but it's a unifying principle in all three timelines, so kind of necessary.

Night War? Battle may actually be a way to go. *will put on thinking cap.*

This may sound silly, but why "night" in all of them? Because it is a vampire story? Does it apply to Caius or all of the nighttime baddies that abound? Would you consider hinting at the fact that both metaphorically and physically he has undergone changes to bring him into the light? Since it is revealed that he is a daywalker at the beginning, maybe you could play with that?

*shrug* I don't know. Just throwing things out to be chewed on.

This story is mostly about his descent into night, and the crucial battles/confrontations all take place at night. The first line of the story is: "What a bright ending to such a dark tale." Because, yes, he does wind up a sunwalker with a little girl he adores, but the journey to that place takes him down a dark road, and because his bright ending is still surrounded by threats of darkness.

However, maybe darkness would be a better metaphor that night. I shall have to meditate on that. :-)
