April was such a busy month, at home and at work both, so with all that (plus falling asleep exhausted in my chair) I got very little leisure reading done. I didn't do my usual habit of picking up and putting down several books and I only finished one book!

Fortunately, it was a really good book: Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews. This Kate Daniels series consistently comes through with great characters, intriguing plots, and original worldbuilding. They are one of my top urban fantasy reads. In this book, number three in the series, we get much more information on Kate's mysterious background and origins. The relationship with Curran the Beast Lord also heats up and deepens. Against the backdrop of gladiatorial games that Kate is forced to participate in, Kate's emotions are constantly being played: concern for her kid, Julie; concern and grief for her friends; fear of her true identity being exposed to those who would destroy her for who she is; lust—and yes, the beginnings of big, big trouble. Love. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

On the book buying front, I wasn't doing too bad, reining in my bad habits, but a $50 gift certificate to Amazon did me in, I'm afraid. Even the Reshelving Project From Hell can't keep me from acquiring more books, it seems. In fact, it may have made things worse. My new shelves = much more room. I have squeezed everything in and have room to spare. My TBR knows no bounds! I am, single-handedly, the backbone of the publishing industry.

All the various projects of remodeling and reshelving and reanimating are done now, so hopefully I can get some serious reading time in. I'd better before the TBR eats my house.
