April's books
May. 2nd, 2010 03:05 pmFinished this month:
1. Unquiet Dreams by Mark del Franco - TBR
These books are an interesting combination of "police procedural" and high magic, set in a contemporary but alternate Boston. Connor Gray, a druid who has lost his powers and is now living hand-to-mouth helping Boston PD Homicide investigate crimes with a magical twist, is an interesting character, and the worldbuilding and plotting are good. I liked this book better than the first as Connor is more accepting of his new role. Finding positives in his new reality, he’s less shell-shocked and sorry for himself. Neither book has grabbed me on a visceral level, but they’re satisfying and entertaining reads and I'll continue with the series.
2. Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs - new
I really liked this addition to the series. Probably not the book to start with if you're new to her series, and impossible to summarize without giving things away. I'll just say this: Mercy is adjusting to her new status within Adam's pack and wading her way through conspiracy and jeopardy from the fae. A really good, fast-paced read.
3. Chasing Midnight by Susan Krinard - TBR
