If the bird's throat is moving, it is actually the bird speaking or whistling. If the bird's throat is not moving, it's the lame human behind the camera trying to coax the bird to speak or whistle.

On a side note: the Starling prefers his TV loud.

And yes, that is what you think it is on the roommate's shoulder.

okay, that is awesome! I didn't know they could do such a range! I hear the ones outside and now I know that they are actually mimicking the neighbor kids screaming. I thought before it was just an odd similarity.

No, they're great mimics. Baby also mocks the crows outside in their own language and sings along with the songbirds. He's quite comical.

I was playing Baby Bird's rendition when my previously deeply asleep cat came belting down from the upper level sitting room, where he had been sprawled over most of the couch up there. He now feels the urgent need to guard my laptop because it is infested with demon bird spirits.

Baby is so clever.
