Adieu to poetry
May. 24th, 2010 11:46 amAnd so there came a time when PJ decided enough with the poetry or she would be scraping the real bottom of the barrel. I may share things from time to time or in other venues, but I will have to find other things to post on Mondays. I'll leave you with this untitled poem which is probably still in process, but it seemed a fitting way to conclude.
From the notebooks, April 8, 2010:
Don't be ashamed of your heart:
it's the truest part of you,
even when it's fickle, wanting
irreconcilable things—that's truth,
as true as it gets, for humans
are irreconcilable things, seeking
patterns in the dew, in the clay,
seeking stories to soften the hard
rhythms of hearts straining too tight,
and truths too hard to bear.
