Random quote of the day:

“Writing is writing, and stories are stories.  Perhaps the only true genres are fiction and non-fiction.  And even there, who can be sure?”

—Tanith Lee, interview, Tabula Rasa, #4, October 1994

Aargh. I had a long correspondence with someone doing a story using a relative's letters trying to pin him down as to whether it was supposed to be fiction or non-fiction, and they kept saying it didn't matter, just enjoy. What I was trying to tell them was that if it was supposed to be fiction, it was dead boring, and if it was non-fiction they ought to indicate it when they put in their own stuff, a lot of it being information that no censor would ever let through.
