I've had earthlink dsl for a couple of years and it's been pretty good. But this month I've had three different loss of service incidents. It may or may not be earthlink's fault--the last one this weekend was the fault of damnable AT&T "upgrading" their damnable servers. But it's got me considering cable--if I can afford it--so I can get away from phone lines altogether. I happen to be in a part of Los Angeles that didn't deregulate so I have no choice for my land line provider.

Anyway, any horror stories about Time Warner cable/Roadrunner? Any recommended ISPs?

We've been on TimeWarner/RoadRunner for 4 or 5 years at least and it went down once. Even when the cable tv is out, the cable modem has been fine. So no horror stories from me.

I've heard horror stories about Comcast from friends. Haven't heard anything about Adelphia, but my friends with Comcast have had service issues. So, hopefully, TimeWarner will whip Comcast into shape and not be dragged down. But my little cable modem has been humming along just fine through two computers so far, and later this year, a third when I replace this aging monster.

I use Verizon DSL and have never had a problem with them. No horror stories here...

We've thought Verizon wasn't too terrible. So far.
