In case you haven't seen this, here's the take Paula Guran, editor at Juno Books, has on the new Simon & Schuster contract:

And while you're at it, take the reader's poll in the sidebar of her blog. Here's your chance to tell a publisher what you want to read.

ETA: This is also an interesting post, which you may have already been linked to over at [livejournal.com profile] raecarson's place:

ETA Part Deux:And then there's this. [livejournal.com profile] magicnoire has a good link salad on this whole debate.

That's a reasonable opinion to have but if the agent rumor mill is correct, the OOP clause is non-negotiable. That's the impression I got from Kristin Nelson's latest entries, at any rate.

I know S&S has recanted a little and said that they'll negotiate on a book by book basis but why book by book? There's something about that that's a little sketchy to me.

And I know this sounds jaded but even if you say something's negotiable but still go ahead and say no during the wheeling and dealing, that's still more or less non-negotiable, isn't it?
