Most of the 5,837,934 people around here don't watch the news (if the number of surprised morons at the beach when a hurricane hits is any indication) so I figure I got a shot at beating the traffic.

You might! Unfortunately, in LA the traffic often is like people escaping a disaster on a daily basis. I have no hope of getting out alive. :-)

LOL, I feel your pain and know it, having commuted in LA traffic for over 20 years. However, I remember the LA Riots traffic jam (the "Can't we all get along" one) and I remember sitting in place for hours then getting fed up and driving like a commando, over highway concrete dividers in my jeep, going on road shoulders and grass, with other people following my lead soon enough, and absolutely being the crazy road rage bitch that I am. *grin*

So yeah, in case of a disaster I think I can pretty much navigate LA traffic like the guy from the movie 2012. Everybody, follow me! ;-)

On the other hand, it really does help NOT being in LA when some kind of disaster happens.

Yes, not being in LA in disaster would be preferable. Otherwise, commando driving! :-D

Husband, kids and I would hop on the horses and head across country. Who needs highways when you have four hooves under you? ;)

Ha! One of the advantages of being in a less urban area.

I guess I'm lucky; only about 1.5 million live in Philadelphia. I'd try to be creative and buy a boat to escape in.

Or steal one in the chaos, as needed. :-D

That would seem more likely, it's true; anyone with one would probably be planning to use it themselves.

I believe Me, Mr. Jameson's, and one Don Q would have a hell of a party.

Yeah, me and Mr. Bushmills. I don't think I'd even try to make it out of town. I'd probably still be sitting on some freeway somewhere when the rock hit.
