What is a rose?

I know it would smell as sweet by any other name, but I'm wondering what kind of symbolism, if any, has worked its way into your psyche?

Hehe. I did indeed. I still remember my rugby-ignorant days when I wondered why Julien wore a white long-sleeve polo shirt with a red rose embroidered on it. Now I tease him for having a shirt from our great enemies. :P
