1 a.m.

Me: Goodnight, Min.
Min: purr purr snuggle snuggle Goodnight.

3 a.m.

Min: Hey! Wake up!
Me: Wuh? Huh?
Min: Isn't it time for you to go to the bathroom or something?
Me: I guess.
Min: Good, because I like to have company while I eat my middle of the night crunchies.

5 a.m.

Min: Hey! Wake up!
Me: Wuh? What now?
Min: It's time to get up and feed me.
Me: It's too early.
Min: Until quite recently this was the hour you used to get up and feed me.
Me: Times change. Now, shut up and go back to sleep.

6:30 a.m.

Min: Hey! Wake up! It's long past time to feed me! This is ridiculous! I'm being abused!
Me, blearily getting up to slap food into her plate: I'm going back to bed now.

8 a.m.

Min: Don't you think you should get up now? You've been sleeping quite a long while.
Me: No. Shut up and go back to sleep.

9 a.m.

Min (snuggling on my chest and purring loudly): This is great. I could stay here all day.
Me: Actually, I was thinking of getting up.
Min: What?? You never think of anyone but yourself. Shut up and go back to sleep.

Who needs an alarm clock when you share your home with a quadruped? My alarm usually goes off while I'm putting Toby's lead on for his first-thing walk.

The hour change was a NIGHTMARE. Toby seems to understand the big hand pointing up* but he doesn't have a clue about what the little hand is for.

*I go out to work just after 7. At 7 o'clock he goes frantic.

Dogs are even more demanding. Early to rise, and long walks. Sometimes I wonder whether I really want to be that healthy.

I think she's just making sure you don't have nightmares. It's downright considerate of her.

Maeve does the three a.m. "Mom, are you still alive? You are? Oh, okay, see you later then" thing.
