My feet can feel the road

What with being sick on and off for about three weeks, then trying to make up for a year and a half of household neglect in two weeks (impossible), I haven't done any creative work in over a month and it was really weighing on my psyche today. So I forced myself to open my Rev. Kirk file and DO something.

I only got about 500 words, but at least I'm crawling forward again. I think I can feel the road beneath my feet once more and know that it really, truly is still there.

Tomorrow my oldest friend is coming over and we will be doing crafts all day. I haven't seen her since February 2020. I cannot tell you how happy it will make me to see her.

This last year and a half have been hard. Today I decided to do a little shopping at a store a couple of miles away. No big deal, except I had to drive a car! On the roads! And walk into a store!

In the deepest sense, I am out of practice.

Creativity is also a practice discipline.

It is indeed hard to get used to doing normal things again. I have the extra disadvantage of not being able to walk so we'll so going into a store is not really an option. But I was getting in my car and driving around for a while. The last month even that's stop. I go out into the car and sit there and read a book and let it run for an hour to keep the battery active. I really do need to get out of that habit.

And yes, creativity requires practice. I had to force it a bit today and I'll probably have to force it again for a while but that's okay. I just can't let myself off the hook If I'm going to keep in practice.

I know we will. The last time we were together in February 2020 it was for a craft day. We used to do them every three months or so. It'll be good to get back into that pattern!

I'm so glad someone is reclaiming some creative power! I've felt pretty quashed for sometime now, and with COVID + cancer isolation, I didn't even dare go look for supplies to augment things I had on hand.

I have literally run out of sewing thread, lol, couldn't even hem a pair of jeans or sew buttons on with matching thread!

But bit by bit, I'm reclaiming my life and house. Almost done fixing a lousy paint job on a ceiling - and hope to re-do walls by summer's end. Outdoors, when it is NOT scorching as the hinges of mythic hell, I am doing an ongoing ivy elimination in my yard.

Progress...slowly is better than not at all?

Bit by bit is the only way we can reclaim things when we've been hit by big problems. My creativity is very stumbling at this point, but I'm trying not to judge and just do SOMETHING.
