Mercy clicks always appreciated
Nov. 16th, 2006 12:11 pmI think I've got a chip in one of my contact lenses--the same eye that I managed to gouge last year. This is the second time one of the lenses I got from Dr. Quacky McQuackenstein has chipped on me. He must use some cheap jack crap. I once again find myself returning to this doofus because I could get in right away, but when it comes time for my next regular exam I hope to have a new doctor.
Fortunately, I had my backup glasses with me at work, however they only work for distance. I'm having to sit waaaaay close to the computer screen to see what I'm typing.
Writingness of the day: I decided that it might help me to get my head around chapter 5 by rereading chapters 2-4 so that's what I did. And I think it did help. I feel like I have a better idea of how to attack the chapter. While I was at it, I cleaned up chapter 4 and posted it to the OWW. I didn't have many expectations for this morning, crit-wise, since three of my regulars are NaNo-ing and the holidays are rapidly approaching, but I was somewhat chagrined to find that no one at all had even clicked on the sucker. Woe is me. Hell, if I can survive the dearth of interest in the later chapters of my previous two novels, I guess I'll survive my current chagrination.
What's new in the yard:
I've decided to post some of the pictures I took at sunset on 11/11/06.

This is some of the narcissus that got fooled into thinking it was spring.

And the bougainvillea is happy.

Bougainvillea, Mexican sage, pampas grass, with the magnolia tree in the background.

Pampas grass, backlit by setting sun.
Random quote of the day:
"There is no death, only a change of worlds."
—Chief Seattle
Which strikes me as a quote I could use for Charged with Folly.

Date: 2006-11-16 08:19 pm (UTC)As for clicking on your sub. I don't need to to know I am going to enjoy it. I just need a quiet time of day to look at it properly. :) I am surrounded by techno whatnot; the kind twenty year olds listen to that beats any intelligence out of my head. I will try to catch up later.

Date: 2006-11-16 08:58 pm (UTC)And I might get to your Chapter 4 today. I'm feeling really pukey and have been subsisting on crackers and ginger ale for so long that my ability to write seems to have gone out the windows. I can still read, though! hehe

Date: 2006-11-16 09:05 pm (UTC)No. They're rigid gas permeable. I've been wearing hard lenses since I was 15 and can't wear the soft ones because I've got to much smutz built up on the inside of my eyelids...or something like that. And I never had much trouble (like, none) with chipping before I started going to the current schmuck, so I think it's his product line that's the problem.
And I might get to your Chapter 4 today.
There isn't any rush on reviews. I was just wishing for *clicks* so my clickometer rose above zero!

Date: 2006-11-17 06:44 pm (UTC)It is. I'm not too proud to beg. :-) And there isn't any hurry on the crit, seriously. I am breathless with anticipation, but I honestly wasn't angling for that.

It was.

Date: 2006-11-17 12:00 am (UTC)Sorry I haven't visited the new chapter yet. I am going there right now. I was in the office today and it is open plan. The town manager's office is right behind me and I can't afford to be caught even peeking at private stuff.
Yes, definitely dump the quack doctor. Your eyes are your window to the world. Don't let anyone wreck them. I hope the damage heals soon and isn't too painful.

Thank you. the chapter doesn't feel naked now. And I understand about that irritating work thing. It's always interfering. ;-) (But so glad to be employed!)

Date: 2006-11-17 03:05 pm (UTC)Also, each time my eye lights on your random quote of the day this time, my thoughts stop and regroup around it. Today they dredged up the memory of a quotation I have stashed somewhere about how, in the beginning, God gave each nation a cup and now, 'our cup is broken.'
