Apologies*

I've been reformatting some old posts and they may be coming through as new posts, but I've also generated new posts in the last few days and they've also been coming through as new posts. So...sorry if anyone is getting inundated with notifications.

I discovered recently that my Wordpress blog hosted on DreamHost which has been mirrored here at Dreamwidth (no relation) for years is not actually a Wordpress blog. When the website was set up, it was set up with the Wordpress software, but I never actually had a Wordpress account. And I just didn't realize this. Therefore, anything that was mirrored here will go away if I ever stop paying the folks at DreamHost. I have no plans to do that, but you know, things happen.

Fortunately, DreamHost informs me that all those blog posts can be transferred from their server to Wordpress but I will probably have to pay for the Wordpress account rather than having a free account. Which circles back to the same problem viz-a-viz paying/not paying.

The other fortunately is that for the bulk of the nine years I was mirroring, it was to Livejournal first and thence onward to Dreamwidth. After some testing, it appears that those posts may be safe. But once I quit LJ and started directly mirroring to Dreamwidth, the posts became insecure. That represents roughly a year and a half of posting. I've backed them all up with Blog Booker, but UNfortunately, Blog Booker backups comments but does not identify who left the comment. And the comments are as important to me as the actual blogs.

So. In an act of what I freely admit is OCD Extreme, I've started reposting any significant posts and any posts that have comments—and here comes the really OCD part—recreating the comments. I'm posting them with the original dates, but some of them appear to be leaking through as new posts.

So I am very sorry if that's happening.

Welcome to the wonderful world of OCD PJ.

*Duh. I just realized if I check the "Don't show on Reading Page" box no one will be bothered.

If I do say so myself, it’s cool. But I’d also like to know what you think.

F-Bod Studios, aka [livejournal.com profile] hominysnark, has done a brilliant job of bringing home the visuals and most of the cool. It’s so pretty! There are a number of fun touches and some hidden goodies.

I hope to start posting some of my fiction soon, perhaps one of my older novels, and a serialized novel, maybe some stories. In the meantime, there are other writings there. I will be posting five poems a month on a rotating basis. As I post them on the website, I’ll be removing them from LJ if I’ve posted them here.

Thanks to those who gave me FAQ questions to answer. Space considerations meant I didn’t wind up using all of them, but I appreciate your efforts.

I need more questions for my FAQ for my website, so I'm throwing the floor open to questions here. The sillier the better, my friends. Grotesque, lame, halt, spacey...I am open to everything. Except serious. You can even ask me questions you'd rather ask someone else, since I'm pretty boring. Or one of my characters, if you're familiar with any of my writing.

Ask, ASK, ASK

Thanks.

p.s. I know I've been largely absent lately. Mostly because of busyness, though some of the busyness was monkey business, but that's another story. Regular blogging may return sometime soon.

Here's a touching scene for you from Arizona:

Q: What questions should I have on my FAQ?

A: Not the boring ones you've come up with yourself.

Q: Why not ask your friends?

A: Wow, you like to live dangerously.

Q: I guess I should call myself Danger Gal?

A: Or maybe not.

So, all right, friends, acquaintances, and drive-bys...I can't promise I'll answer everything with the utmost of truth, but I will answer questions to the best of my ability.

(This isn't really a meme. I really am writing a FAQ.)

So I thought about registering a domain name in case I wanted to build a web site later. pjthompson.com is taken. (Some dork named Paul Thompson.) As is .net and .org. pamelajthompson.com is taken, as is .net and .org. pamelathompson.com is taken, but I knew it would be--there's a fashion designer by that name. So what to call my domain. I'd prefer to have something to do with pjthompson in there, since that's my writing name. pjthompsonwriter.com seems pretty dorky and presumptuous, but it does have the virtue of being available, as is pjthompsononline.com.

Any opinions on the dorkness or lack of dorkness of either of these? Maybe i should try pjthompsondork.com.

[Poll #560385]

ETA: I can never get these damned buttons to work right. I'm the dorkiest.
